The Spacemen now have the number one spot in the Midwest East division!

December 2, 2022 Fort Wayne Spacemen vs Columbus Mavericks

After a much-needed weekend off the Fort Wayne Spacemen faced the Columbus Mavericks in their first game back from Thanksgiving break. Puck drop was at 8:15pm EST at OhioHealth Chiller North in Delaware County, Ohio.

The Fort Wayne Spacemen and Columbus Mavericks both are in their fourth season of the USPHL. The Spacemen are in the Midwest East division as the Mavericks are in the Great Lakes division.

The Mavericks scored the first goal of the game at 3:55 in the first period. The Mavericks receive the first powerplay of the game.

The Spacemen receive their first powerplay with one minute remaining in the first period. The Spacemen couldn’t get on the board during the first as the Mavericks lead 1-0 at the end of the first period.

Grigory Koryazhin scores for the Spacemen at 1:29 in the second period on a powerplay. Koryazhin’s goal tied the game up 1-1.

The Mavericks respond on a powerplay scoring their second of the game. The Columbus Mavericks lead 2-1 to end the second period.

Thomas Turgeon scores at 5:40 in the third period for the Spacemen. Turgeon’s goal ties the game 2-2.

After about 15 minutes of play neither team could break the tie. After 60 minutes of play the game heads into overtime as the score remains tied 2-2.

A strong competition of 5 minutes of overtime play but neither team scored. Spacemen and Mavericks are headed into a shootout.

Noah Maine is the first shooter for the Spacemen, but he does not score. The Mavericks first shooter does not score.

Koryazhin is the second shooter for the Spacemen, but he does not score. The Mavericks second shooter does not score.

Thomas Turgeon is the third shooter for the Spacemen but does not score. The Mavericks third shooter does not score.

Logan Robins is the fourth shooter for the Spacemen and does not score. The Mavericks fourth shooter does not score.

Antoine Fournier is the fifth shooter for the Spacemen and scores the first shootout goal! The Mavericks fifth shooter scores.

Danylo Shpak is the sixth shooter for the Spacemen and does not score. The Mavericks sixth shooter does not score.

RJ Rollman is the seventh shooter for the Spacemen, and he scores! The Mavericks seventh shooter scores.

Noah Takitani is the eighth shooter for the Spacemen, and he scores! The Mavericks eight shooter does not score.

The Spacemen win 3-2! Bryce Dunnigan captured 17 saves throughout the game.

The Spacemen now have the number one spot in the Midwest East division! The Spacemen now have a seven game winning streak!
