The Spacemen look to get another win against the Columbus Mavericks

The Spacemen remain in first place in the Midwest East division.

December 3, 2022 Fort Wayne Spacemen vs Columbus Mavericks

The Fort Wayne Spacemen had their first home game since returning from Thanksgiving break. The Spacemen ended the home and away series at home on Saturday December 3rd.

After winning in a shootout the Spacemen looked to get another win against the Columbus Mavericks. Puck drop was at 5:30pm EST at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.

Kyle Remo got the first goal of the game for the Spacemen at 8:51 in the first period. After over ten minutes the Mavericks get their first goal at 19:24 in the first period.

The Mavericks goal tied the game 1-1. With only 36 seconds in the first period to break the tie neither team scored.

The second period was very competitive and lots of penalty minutes for both teams. The Mavericks scored the only goal of the second period at 14:09 to take the lead 2-1.

The Spacemen looked to start the third period off strong to take the lead. Noah Maine scored for the Spacemen at 14:22 to tie the game 2-2.

With 6 minutes left in the third period neither team scored to break the tie. The Spacemen and Mavericks were headed to overtime for the second night in a row.

After five minutes of three-on-three overtime play neither team scored. We were headed into a shootout against the Mavericks, again.

Grigory Koryazhin was the first shooter for the Spacemen in the shootout, he did not score. The Mavericks first shooter did not score.

Noah Maine was the second shooter for the Spacemen, he did score! The Mavericks second shooter did not score.

Sam Tetreault was the third shooter for the Spacemen, he did not score. The Mavericks third shooter did not score.

The Spacemen won in a shootout for the second night in a row defeating the Columbus Mavericks 3-2! Bryce Dunnigan captured 30 saves throughout the game for the Spacemen.

The Fort Wayne Spacemen are on an eight game winning streak. The Spacemen remain in first place in the Midwest East division.
