Spacemen receive their first ever ticket to the USPHL Nationals!

The tournament for the USPHL Premier was an 18-team seeding round to start the National Tournament.

USPHL Premier Nationals 2022-2023

The Fort Wayne Spacemen received their first ever ticket to the USPHL Nationals on March 12th. The Spacemen took the train to Utica, New York to compete in their first ever USPHL National Tournament.

The USPHL Nationals were held from March 23rd through March 28th in Utica, New York. The tournament for the USPHL Premier was an 18-team seeding round to start the National Tournament.

The seeding round was a two-game match. Schedules for the two-game seeding round were based on matching teams for their specific matchups, based on overall divisional success in the 2021-2022 Regular Season, Postseason and at the 2022 Nationals.

The Fort Wayne Spacemen started off the seeding round with 12:30pm EDT game against the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Knights on March 23rd. Sam Tetreault started off the scoring for the Spacemen at 14:23 in the first period which led the Spacemen to a 1-0 lead to end the first period!

Tetreault’s goal was the first ever goal in franchise history for the Spacemen at the USPHL Nationals! Logan Robins assisted on the goal.

Noah Maine scores at 3:02 in the first period. Maine’s goal puts the Spacemen ahead 2-0 early in the second period.

Wilkes-Barre responds fast after Maine’s goal. The Knights score at 4:38 and 5:56 which ends the second period in a 2-2 tie.

Kyle Remo scores for the Spacemen at 2:02 in the third period to put the Spacemen ahead 3-2. Thomas Turgeon scores on a powerplay at 9:05 to give the Spacemen a 4-2 lead!

Wilkes-Barre responds at 9:27 and 11:49 in the third period to tie the game 4-4. The Knights were put on a powerplay at 15:28.

Wilkes-Barre takes the lead 5-4 at 15:28 in the third period. The Spacemen fall to the Wilkes-Barre Knights 5-4 in their opening game of the USPHL Premier Nationals.

The Fort Wayne Spacemen’s second game of the USPHL Premier Nationals was at 7:00pm EDT on March 24th against the Richmond Generals. Bryce Dunnigan got the start in net for the Spacemen.

The second period was another battle between both teams. The scoreboard remained scoreless at the end of the second period.

The Generals score at 14:30 in the third period. The Generals goal puts them ahead 1-0 late in the third period.

Bryce Dunnigan captured 32 saves throughout three periods of play and only allowing one goal. The Spacemen fall to the Richmond Generals 1-0 in the final game of the USPHL Premier Nationals.

The Spacemen qualify for the sweet 16 round in the USPHL Premier Nationals. The Spacemen played the Hudson Havoc at 4:00pm EDT.

Logan Robins scores a powerplay goal for the Spacemen at 9:50 in the first period. Robin’s goal puts the Spacemen ahead 1-0 to end the first period!

The Havoc score their first goal at 3:03 in the first period. The Havoc’s goal ties the game 1-1.

Corbin Schiebel scores for the Spacemen at 4:42 in the second period. Schiebel’s goal puts the Spacemen ahead 2-1.

Tucker Tone scores for the Spacemen at 9:12 in the second period. Tone’s goal gives the Spacemen a 3-1 lead to end the second period!

Cameron Perry a late goal in the third period at 19:03 on an empty netter. The Spacemen defeat the Hudson Havoc 4-1 and advance to the elite 8 at the USPHL Nationals!

Logan Robins scores on a powerplay for the Spacemen at 16:37 in the first period. Robin’s goal puts the Spacemen ahead 1-0 to end the first period.

Generals score their first of the game at 6:58 in the second period on a powerplay. The Generals take the lead at 13:52 in the second period with a 2-1 lead.

Noah Maine scores at 11:07 in the third period. Maine’s goal ties the game 2-2 which sends the elite 8 game into overtime!

The Generals score at 2:15 in the overtime which means the Spacemen lose 3-2 in overtime. Bryce Dunnigan captured 35 saves in net.

The Fort Wayne Spacemen’s season has come to an end in the elite 8 at the USPHL Premier Nationals. The Spacemen had a remarkable season and there is so much to be proud of!
